Importance of Coral Reefs and Mangroves

Living a  life in the ocean without coral reefs and mangroves is such a hard thing for all the ocean creatures especially the fishes. Normally, coral reefs and mangroves serve as a home for the fishes..

''Coral reefs are found in warm water near the equator. Corals live in warm waters close to the equator.  Each coral animal builds a hard, boxlike capsule around its body from the calcium it removes from seawater. Each capsule is cemented to others to form a colony called a reef.''

If we could only swim in the deeper part of the ocean, we could witness the ocean organisms in the different coral reefs interacting with each other. ''Fish, crabs, sea urchins and many others congregate in reefs. Nutrients, food, carbon dioxide and oxygen are cycled among these organisms, although we can't actually see this happening.''

Aside from coral reefs, mangroves are also important to fishes because mangroves are also places where they can live freely especially the small fishes. ''It offers protected nursery sheltering grounds for marine fishes. Mangroves also conserve water like salt marsh grasses, they excrete salt.''

Coral reefs support the life of different ocean creatures through their rich and abundant assortment of life forms in a tropical setting.

Both coral reefs and mangroves are important in supporting life in the ocean. We could think that they have only simple functions but the truth is they have a big contribution in giving the marine creatures an appropriate and healthy habitat..

Lastly, corals could also be a source of money for the people by designing it and selling it.. Above all, coral reefs and mangroves are useful in both people and marine organisms in different ways..
